A convenient log and expense entry form that you keep on board your
plane;
A log program that can track Flight and Air Time. Flight Time for your
pilot log book and Air Time for maintenance purposes and for your
Aircraft Log Book;
A program that will track everything with regard to your Medical, IFR,
BFR expiries, currencies, ELT, Transponder, maintenance inspections,
service bulletins and more;
A program that will track all of your expenses, either flight, or
other operating expenses;
A program that will report on your plane's performance, that will
calculate your aircraft's fuel and oil consumption, on a flight or
time basis as well as your cost per hour;
And if you are part of a partnership, a program that will
automatically create an engine overhaul reserve or any other reserve
for that matter, and calculate each pilot's contribution to the
reserve based on the time flown and calculate each pilot's share
towards expenses.

We NEVER want to track all of our expenses!!! It would make the whole

thing too uncomfortable.

Rules of Airplane Ownership

1. Money spent on the airplane is NOT real money.

Margy is absolutely right. A boat has been described as a "hole in the
water that you pour money into." We do not need any such concept with
airplanes. The money just seems to float away on the breeze. The faster
you fly, the faster the money floats away! And just like lift, the rate the
money disappears is a function of the velocity squared!

The 11th annual rec.aviation flyin is coming up at Pinckneyville Airport May
18, 19, and 20. It is the place to be in May.
See the unofficial faq at http://www.ousterhout.net/pjy-faq.html If you
are planning to drop in this year please let Mary know at jjohnson (AT) siu (DOT) edu
to make sure she lays in enough groceries. It is a long way to the grocery
store and she spends weeks in advance getting all of the stuff ready to go
and we hate to run out. It has happened with unexpected crowds arriving
just in time for lunch. Smile

And some of us have both airplanes and boats.

Ah. Two-holers.

Let it be noted that Mary's cooking is good enough to change your weight
and balance calculations, and the barbecue's so divine, I was heard a
couple years ago fantasizing about revisiting the hangar one last time
on our way home just to make sure there weren't any leftovers being
overlooked.

I've heard a rumor a second Beer Fridge has been installed in the hangar
to handle the refreshment requirements of thirsty pilots, and my darling
Oyster and I will be attending to check the veracity of such claims,
while threatening to re-enact our nuptials. Last year we strolled out
onto Runway 39 and he proposed under the stars, making me...

a Runway Bride.

See y'all there!
