Any ideas on the simplest, cheapest three-axis ultralight. I mean, fixed wing, conventionally shaped, tail-dragger. I saw a TEAM Aero-bike (I think it was called) a few years ago, Rotax 277, and it looked nice and the owner said itt flew well, though slowly. Well, heck, who needs to go fast, anyway, if just "flying" is all you want? Thanks, in advance. He has around $6k in it (scratch build). He never flies the -8 now, unless he needs to take a trip. He says it's 103 legal, weighs 252 pounds. He's got a one cylinder Hirth engine on it. It climbs like crazy, and is definitely not slow, at least for an ultralight. He loves it. He used to fly a GT400 and likes the Air Bike at least as well. Can't say I agree, as I fly a GT400. I've never flown his plane though. He did say it vibrates a lot. Is esthetics an issue? I like the look of the Airbike wing better. Our local EAA chapter built a TEAM craft a few years back, and I helped a few nights building the wings. Look smoother, stronger, with a genuine airfoil. So, are there plans available for the airbike? I wonder what the scratch-build cost would be. The one-lung Hirth prob would be the biggest cost, but to be genuinely 103-legal would be my desire if I buil, and that means the Hirth or Rotax 277, doesn't it?
