So we can all say now that there is NO CATEGORISATION of
flights from the airports.

No, because...

The current Scottish Executive fund is, I believe, for European flights
only, but Nicol Stephen indicated that he was looking for ways to extend
the
fund to cover long-haul ... a move which, he claimed, would almost
certainly benefit GLA exclusively.

...suggests that some sort of social engineering has been going on.

Well, yes. But unless you're starting your journey in Dubai or Lahore then
you have to change flights somewhere, so why not change onto a flight
direct to Edinburgh?

If we want to see improvements to Scotland's range of scheduled
European carriers, I don't see the harm in promoting the connecting
options through hubs like Frankfurt, Paris etc in addition to the
longer haul carriers such as Emirates and Continental. These
services rely as much on connecting passengers as they do
point-to-point. Scotland would be connected to fewer European
cities if a certain percentage of pax on these flights weren't
connecting from other destinations on the airline's network.

It's good that we have an ever-expanding choice of airlines in
Scotland. There's no right or wrong way.

Correct. There's no difference between connecting in FRA, CDG, AMS,
HEL etc and connecting in DXB, except that the former hubs have
direct flights to Edinburgh, which is what we're talking about.

Thread drift is normal under the circumstances? Surely YOU aren't
dictating what can or cannot be discussed?

Though not Smile)))

Except there was no thread drift.

The whole thing is oft-repeated, ancient and erroneous spam. I'm surprised
