So let's say you are a third world nation. If you have plenty of
manpower available and plenty of gas, do you need super duper jets to
fight insurgents or are older ones cool? One might even be able to
adapt stuff like FLIR if need be, and maintenance and spares might not
be problems if you have a lot of people available to work cheap and if
you have plenty of warehoused, unissued spare parts on tap. The only
problem I see is countermeasures against stuff like man-portable SAMs.
Maybe something like F-84, F-86 or MiG-17 even might be able to do
some nasty stuff. |

It would be easier to write a check and get some L-39's.
Easy to fly, plumbed for electricity to the weapons pylons, reasonable
fuel economy/capacity, available... |

ISTR they are now selling upgraded versions like the L-159.
