Not in the middle. Look how big and sharp his shadow is on the snow

below him. The next shot, from a different camera, shows the same pass:
you can see him and his shadow. He wasn't more than 20 feet above that
snow slope.

I wonder what colour his underwear was after he landed.

Nah, that carbon is in his head, not farther down.

I guess he looks really brave and smart to some people -- right
up to when he augers in. Then that 20-20 hindsight that some
people have so much of kicks in, and then they'll think, "Hey,
maybe that wasn't so bright after all".

Unless, of course, he _doesn't_ auger in. But then, everyone does,
eventually, operating at the bleeding edge.

Going beyond the expectations of we middle-of-the-roaders is essential
for progress. I suppose you could say that 20-20 hindsight comes from
having your head up your ass, but then you wouldn't be the first.
