In the 12-month period to April, EDI grew its passenger numbers by
183,000 compared to just 21,900 at Glasgow Abbotsinch. Confirmed
data for Glasgow Prestwick International is not yet available.

During the period, EDI reduced the 12-month passenger deficit with
Glasgow Abbotsinch by 161,000 passengers or an average of 13,425 per
calendar month to just 168,400. It is still early in the year but
EDI is currently on track to be the central belt's fastest growing
airport in 2007, the tenth successive year of being in that
position.

The EDI share of the EDI / Glasgow Abbotsinch passenger market -
1997 to 2006 (source : CAA).
1997 : 40.80%
1998 : 41.13%
1999 : 42.90%
2000 : 44.23%
2001 : 45.42%
2002 : 47.04%
2003 : 47.92%
2004 : 48.32%
2005 : 49.03%
2006 : 49.32%

And whilst you're doing that, ask him to factor in the PIK situation
seeing that IATA/ICAO recognise that airport as serving Glasgow as
well. Then we can see the "bigger picture".

The bigger picture also recognises that pax from across central Scotland
(and sometimes beyond) use ALL three central belt airports.

that you only choose to comment when someone like me comes along and tries
to put the non-parochial pan-Scottish view. The inter-city willy-waving

Actually the OP if the truth be told only highlighted the fact Glasgow Intl
has been Scottish Number 1 since 1966 when HM The Queen opened it.

I hadn't even read through Rod's stats but you're right. What he was saying
in their little struggle is that GLA has always been busier. Well we all
knew that anyway.

Not that it counts for anything mind. If EDI does overtake, nothing will
have changed except for those short sighted types for whom that sort of
thing is important.

As for integrity, a quick glance at the CAA stats shows that the following
is fatally flawed in terms of percentage gains: "It is still early in the
year but EDI is currently on track to be the central belt's fastest growing
airport in 2007, the tenth successive year of being in that position." - In
the year 1999-2000 PIK grew by 29%. That year EDI grew by 8%. It's never
been near 29% with any amount of spin. Others can check the other years to
see how often the percentage growth figure was higher at EDI than PIK in the
last decade.

Yes probably, so those of a nervous disposition should start preparing
themselves. Mind you the champagne has been on ice for the last 5 years, it
