From today's Metro newspaper (can't find a link) - no doubt the other
rags will also publish something similar:

'The air service between Glasgow and Dubai is Scotland's most
successful long haul route. The Emirates service has broken the half
million passenger barrier with its daily flight to the Middle East.
Figures from airport operator BAA Scotland show Dubai is now the most
popular long-distance destination out of Scotland. The service from
Glasgow was launched in April 2004, with some commentators saying the
venture was doomed to failure.'

Fairly impressive figures - considering they anticipated 100,000 &
150,000 passengers per annum in the first year ...

OK. It would have been interesting to have read what they said then and
what they say now.

Since the flight is out of GLA then I would guess that one of them is from
Livingston ;)

Well, I was assuming we were talking about professional comentators. Or
even Daily Record journos.

Do you think it really matters what professional commentators have to
say, Mister Niceguy - if the comments don't match some points of view
they are reinterpreted or dismissed.

A bit like data from the CAA, BAA, or indeed the highly respected
FoAI.

It doesn't matter to me other than having some amusement about egg on
peoples' faces.
