Yes, he's on one, can we ignore him............PLEASE.
He posted numerous 'test posts' before he went so his 'host's' weren't
subjected to losing their ISP connection.
But, he may well have a nasty surprise on his return, so, as the say in the
good ol' US of A - Happy Holidays Joseph ;-)

So to stay on topic.

I am unclear ... if I was to buy booze airside on an EU airport and I am
flying back to EDI via LHR ... will they let me take it through the
security check at LHR? Receipt would be available.

As long as the originating duty free is in a selaed bag, you should be

OK. Having said that, outside the EU is becoming very difficult. The
other night at AMS I saw a guy that had a couple of bottles poured into
a bin. He had bought them in duty free at Thailand.

The security guys at LHR are a law amongst themselves though Sad

Last time I came through LHR flight connections centre in January I
saw a lot of bottles being confiscated and a lot of unhappy pax.Not
worth the risk nowadays I have even heard of duty free shop bought
bottles being taken off them when transferring from one flight to
another.

I was wondering about transfers. Is there a security check now on flight
transfers at LHR? Kinda takes away the point.

I agree ... so what was the point of this post, other than to keep JC very
much in the talking zone. Please try and control these urges to post about
him when he's not here.

No urges, just pointing out this - http://www.x-privat.org/international.php

Yes, you have to go through the one bag rule as well as the scanners -
we had to cram all the excess that you collect on the way into one
bag.

Yup. As Crawford says, if you bought goods which are legal to transport
you still have to get them to fit in one bag when you arrive at LHR.

And in my case (all the last few times I can remember flying back but
for the last time), my luggage did not come to EDI with me. I must have
flown from an unsafe country into LHR then onwards to EDI so my luggage
should need triple checking ... complete and utter rubbish.

Charles

My bag was searched at FRA last Tuesday. The woman took out a bundle
and mutter 'ah - Spargel'. That's asparagus - I had a kilo of what
passes for green asparagus in Germany, and it's not a patch on the
local stuff. I wonder what they thought it was when they X-Rayed my
