I'm at the very beginning of my career change, I have bought the
books, I will get my medical done in the UK, then sit the theory exams
and if all goes well, I will choose a school -only where do I start
looking?

I have been shopping around and so far, Oz looks the cheapest overall
- am I wrong?

Where is the cheapest country for doing h cpl?

Much appreciated

Phil

There is no reason to get a UK medical, if you come to the states to get a
FAA rating. You need a FAA medical.

Also, instead of getting a rotor wing rating first, you will find it less
expensive to get a fixed wing rating, then get a H rating. Helicopters are
very expensive per hour compared to a little fixed wing. Also, you may not
be able to get insurance for solo heli's, without first holding a fixed wing
ticket.

The moral of the story is, there is no where that is cheap for getting a
flying ticket, and especially a H ticket.

My advise? Join the military, and let them teach you. <g>

Jims advice is good.

Here is something to think about.

You may phone around and ask, "What's your best price for a Sony model
1234 48" HDTV"

You probably don't phone around and ask, "What's your cheapest pair of
shoes"?

And you probably don't shop around and ask, "What's the cheapest suit
that you have"?

But you are shopping around for the cheapest flight instruction?

One of the subjects that you will be required to study on the road to
your pilot licence is Pilot Decision Making. So far, you don't appear
to be scoring too high in that particular department.

Sorry - but that is really how I see it from your post.

Good luck to you - looking forward to reading what you decide to do.

Tony
