I must admit I would be feeling a tad nervous myself if I was flying out
from Scotland to Egypt tonight.

unfortunately that is the effect that the bombers are trying to create. The
reality of the situation is that there is about as much chance of being
killed by a bomb as there is of winning the national lottery (I don't know
the exact odds but am making an educated guess which could be out either
way). There is more chance of dying falling out of bed than winning the
lotto and none of us worry about that do we?
I am certain that we must never be cowed by terrorism or else we will be
ruled by it for the rest of our lives and that whatever happens we have to
lead our lives as normal. On that basis I have tried to think of some
positive thoughts if I happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Here are some of the ones I came up with, perhaps others can make some
suggestions as well:
1. I won't have to pay any more tax (this one makes me want to invite one of
these guys round for coffee!)
2. I get early retirement and don't have to worry about not saving enough
for retirement or the fact that the stock market crashed.
3. The bombers have created the maximum bad karma for themselves and will
probably be rotting in hell rather than enjoying all the virgins they were
lead to believe were waiting.
4. You guys won't have to read my ramblings anymore!
Here is a website that is on a similar theme: http://www.werenotafraid.com/
I believe that these bombers only do what they do because they are convinced
that we "westerners" are terrified of death. If they only realised that we
weren't then what would be the point? There would be no point IMHO.
The Spanish election result was probably the greatest victory for the
current terrorist campaign but there was no bombing campaign at the UK
election time probably because there was nothing to gain, the only realistic
alternative government (conservative) would have been worse than the current
one (for terrorists) and whatever they think of the Brits they know we
aren't surrender monkeys...

**snipped but read**
Yes indeed, Bryan. I'm not letting it stop my plans to visit London in a few
weeks' time - otherwise they've won.
London and Britain have lived through worse, and we will ride this storm out
just like we have in the past.
