This sounds very promising for ultralight enthusiast in the Canberra region.
Hopefully this proposal will be accepted and go ahead. Sure beats driving
for an hour to get to either Cooma or Goulburn just for a fly time of 30
minutes or so.

Chris Price, a local aviation enthusiast, has developed a proposal for the
establishment of a grass airfield in the vicinity of Williamsdale in the
ACT, just to the north of the service station on the Monaro Highway. The
discussions with the ACT Government have been going well and the signs are
looking very positive.

Chris has expressions of interest from local emergency service providers as
well as GA and AUF flying schools. He has ongoing meetings with the ACT
Government and would like as many expressions of support from potential
users of such a facility as possible.

All very interesting that they have been talking about the secondary
airport for the Canberra region for about last five or six years. There
seems to be a large number of people behind it but unfortunately all the
fighting and bickering over whose idea it is on who's doing what seems
to drag it down more than anything. You must remember that Australia is
doing their best to shut down airports not opening up new ones, the
hurdles you will have to face with environmental impact statements and
public consultation will mean it is very unlikely this project will come
to fruition for at least 10 years. Having said all that I wish you good
luck because the fees to tie down on the grass in Canberra are excessive.
