According to my WA Country Airstrip Guide, the Shay Gap airstrip is at:
20 degrees 25.917' S
120 degrees 08.083' E

The townsite is located 4.5nm bearing 160 (magnetic) from the airstrip.

According to:
http://ironore.bhpbilliton.com/docs/mac_brochure.pdf

it's 120KM north west of Newman and 326KM south of Port Hedland. Grab
yourself a "compass" (the old ones you used to use at school in geometry)
and you should be able to see where they intersect on a map.

Further details show the "C Deposit" is located in the Northern Flank valley
of Area C.

According to the map on:
http://www.doir.wa.gov.au/documents/investment/IronOreReview2002(2).pdf

Area C is roughly northwest of Newman (and much much closer to Newman than
it is to Shay Gap).

The "closest" airstrip I can see based upon the country airstrip guide is
the Rhodes Ridge airstrip which is ESE of Area C and is located at:
23 degrees 6' S, 119 degrees 22' E, and seems to be around 36KM away based
on the map included in the Iron Ore Review document above.

According to a Google search there is an Airstrip at Mining Area C but I
couldn't find any corrdinates for it.

Would love photos of any airstrips you pass/land at for the collection at:
http://www.flightclub.com.au/wa-airstrips/

Cheers,
Richard.

Thanks very much Richard.
Yes, I will get some photos for you if I can. But i'm actually doing
the work while flying so may not get a chance.
It's amazing the size of the operation out there.
