Awsome to look at!

90 days, almost to the minute from end of checkride. Can't use it today,
though - 400' ceiling and 0.5 visibility.

Does it include your photo? I've heard that the new cards both
do and don't include a photo and am just wondering which way it
really is.

Mine does not - even though I ordered it online and the FAA website asked
for my drivers license information presumably to retrieve my photo.

If this clears up the issue. I was at this year's AOPA Expo and the FAA is
still working out the logistics of getting the photo and the ticket
together. It's all still up in the air. One of the most promising
suggestions that AOPA is floating around is that AME's could take the photo
at the time of one's aviation medical exam and then send it to the FAA with
requisite paperwork.

No photo, but it does include a very nice hologram.

Or, the FAA could join the 21st century.

There was something really strange about watching the DPE hunt-and-peck my
temporary certificate on a really, really old portable typewriter.

Maybe some sort of secure website where the DPE could do all the paperwork
online and submit a digital photo at the same time? Maybe you'd get your
permanent certificate in something less than 3 months. Maybe not.

I think that is where they are headed. They have to find a way to minimize
the paperwork handling as well as the handling time. I would think/hope
that most AME's would have access to a computer with some kind of internet
connection (I'm presuming of course,,, don't really know).

They can do alot of it online. At least my examiner was able to complete it
on the web. My CFI and I filled out the application the prior day and then
the examiner filled in his parts while on-line. He filled in the temporary
certificate by hand though. He said the on-line system speeds things up. I
don't think it did. It still took just over 90 days to get the plastic
card.

or your DPE could join the 21st Century, I've seen DPEs enter the data into
their laptop and send the information on it's way while we were sitting
there, and it printed the temp certificate

I went to one of the FAA web sites to sign up for the Safety news letter,
www.faasafety.gov they are not going to be mailing those little blue or
yellow news letters any more.

And also to their FAA Services Log on
https://amsrvs.registry.faa.gov/amsrvs/Logon.asp there they asked what I
wanted for a photo reference, Drivers License or Passport, choosing the
drivers license it asked for State and allowed me to enter my Driver ID
number..

so maybe my next certificate will have a photo?
Gee.. will that be CFI-A or ASES?

Check it out under a UV light, if you have the means.
