A CAMPAIGN to bring more European tourists to Glasgow has been hailed
as a major success by tourism chiefs.

Pity BAA Glasgow can't seem to deliver any more direct European routes
IMHO.

I suspect the 23 routes from PIK will be the biggest factor here.
Affordable flight and great destination ,,,,,,, what a combination

Ah yes, the "PIK effect" which some people like to play down. I suspect you
are right.

Until Ryanair decide to move up the road, Glasgow has to accept it is a
two airport city and the effect that it has on PAX numbers at GLA.

I have no problems with that but I think that Ryanair is preventing the
likes of Air France and Lufthansa providing GLA with some decent routes
namely CDG and FRA.

I am not really in favour of Easyjet going to CDG as it curtails onward
connections on through ticketing on the AF network.

We have KLM to AMS. Paris as an O&D destination alone is a vital
missing link in the GLA network.

I don't think there's any chance AF are going to turn up anytime in the
forseeable future, so if we want A CDG service then a loco, probably EZY, is
the best chance we've got.

Personally, I go to Paris reasonably frequently, so am more than happy with
a point-to-point service. At the moment I avoid FR and tend to fly with BA
from EDI, so an EZY service from GLA would certainly get my business!

I think I read elsewhere that FR are cutting back their HHN service over the
winter - maybe an opportunity for LH?

When you combine the two airports, it does make for a very large number!

Yes, only Glasgow and London in UK can boast two or more airports.

(OK, Belfast. But that's not strictly UK.)
