Very impressive figures. I remember 20-odd years ago when the Burrell
opened it knocked Edinburgh Castle off top spot for a while, too.
What any of this has to do with EDI, however, is beyond me.

EDI anyone?

At least "Blimps" didn't post this - "Glasgow Airport -
Phase Two of Braeside" in an EDI ng..

Perhaps it's because most of aaug seem to be trolling aaue?

Good advice and that's Dagspot in everyone's kill-file then?

I don't believe in kill-files personally. Why kill-file agenda abusers
and miss the chance of a
right of reply?

You're sounding like Blimps there, Joe.

That will be you off the Xmas card list for that somewhat accurate
comparison. Incidentally he doesn't just sound like Blimpie - he
sounds like myself, yourself, Bartek and Damian, Yusef, Scotsbeef and
everyone else who make such statements selectively. He is a hypocrite
- as am I and so is eveyone else who ignores a post of a certain genre

No Jim. The frequent suggestion by one person that the other takes up the
case against a third person is not as widespread as you suggest.

Well thank you very much, Jim, for branding me a hypocrite. I'm
astonished, as I thought you were better than that, and had the
intelligence not to resort to those kind of base statements.

Resorted he has and many EDI contributors have thrown in the towel
in despair..

Quote:
If B thinks that the only person in this newsgroup who can expect to
have his aggressive and occasionally 'anti airport' views commented
upon or challenged is Joe Curry then B is sadly mistaken. If I see a
lot of rubbish posted about Edinburgh Airport then I (and others) will
challenge it.

As I do, I try to preserve EDI content, if folk object to that..too
bad..

Quote:
B seems to think he can post what he wants with no
consequences, and that anyone who disagrees with him must be in league
with Joe. Isn't it time we stopped viewing this newsgroup in terms of
'blocs' or 'camps' and started dealing with the issues?

Impossible..the posse allow DJ and others in the band to ride
roughshod over EDI content in this newsgroup.

Quote:
The difference between Joe and B is that whenever JC spouts off his
stuff about at least ten people react and hit back.

The posse!

Quote:
When B, dagspot or
anyone else makes a dubious statement about EDI or Edinburgh (or indeed
about anyone from or supporting them) most people let it pass. Perhaps
some of us have had enough of the inequity?

Folk who have had enough usually unsubscribe..hence the reason why
the posse are getting away with it.

Quote:
I share Robert's frustration at being labelled a hypocrite simply
because we aren't prepared to let B's wilder statements go
unchallenged.

Here's me thinking no one - outside the posse - had noticed.

Quote:
I also detest the implication that because I haven't
joined in the chorus of disapproval whenever Joe says something that I
am somehow sympathetic to his opinions. That kind of thinking shows
just how immatuirely some people approach these newsgroups, and it
underlines why certain decent EDI contributors (including the
much-missed Simon and Callum) no longer post here.

Here's the reason

http://makeashorterlink.com/?E683165CD

Quote:
Let's take back this newsgroup from the
juvenile core who want this newsgroup to be a never-ending slanging
match between Edinburgh and Glasgow interests, and let's inject some
intelligence into it for a change. Let's stop seeing the newsgroup in
the black-and-white terms which have become so popular with so many.

The conflict was envisaged over 7 years ago when the EDI newsgroup
was created - hence the guidelines the posse detest.

Quote:
I am no hypocrite. I will state here and now, for the record, that 80%
of what JC says turns me off so completely that in most cases I don't
bother to read his posts.

Perhaps it's because JC is not afraid to fight the agenda changers?

Quote:
I'm sure we've all had enough, and I look forward to the day when those
who left aaue in disgust can come back and feel that they have an input
to make, and not be made to feel intimidated by those who would rather
play perosnality politics instead of debate Edinburgh Airport in a
mature manner.

Excellent r e s u m é Damian..I hope the guys who belong in
alt.airports.uk.glasgow now leave us in peace.

Well, obviously not if posters such as yourself insist it isn't ....
incidentally, this newsgroup is unmoderated.

Now for similar condemnation from Clive and Jim Mason?

Lines: 30
X-Trace: 1144355521 master.news.zetnet.net 908 194.247.47.30:35190

Seems the Glasgow Airport Rail link could be delayed for up to Five
years over concerns of
compulsory land purchase.

http://www.theherald.co.uk/features/59590.html

The continued development of adjacent Braeside.

http://news.scotsman.com/glasgow.cfm?id=530002006

Appears to be making the airport site valuable property.

Could it be that any new owners of Glasgow Airport might
find it more lucrative to sell-off to developers than operate as an
airport
competing against the 'other' Glasgow Airport at Prestwick?

Braeside 2 development appears to be unstoppable, expanding onto a
redundant Glasgow
International Airport site seems logical.

Why have two local airports competing against each other when one can
suffice?
