Glasgow Prestwick welcomes Espanyol supporters
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is helping Espanyol supporters reach the UEFA Cup
Final on Wednesday May 16.
It promises to be a great occasion, with around 4,000 fans arriving at the
airport before travelling north to Glasgow’s Hampden Park.
Mark Rodwell, Chief Executive of Glasgow Prestwick Airport, commented: “We are
delighted to be involved in this event and we look forward to welcoming the
Espanyol supporters here. We wish their team the best of luck.
“It is important for us to ensure everyone enjoys the experience, and we ask
that passengers follow the guidelines for hand luggage and liquids.
“If we can get everyone in and out of the airport as quickly as possible, it
means more time to enjoy the occasion.â€
Passengers are asked to note the following:
Bring as little hand luggage as possible and pack any liquids in small
transparent plastic bags, in line with European-wide regulations. Liquid
containers should hold a maximum of 100mls.
Passengers due to depart from the airport on the morning of Thursday May 17 are
asked not to spend the night in the terminal building as we do not have the
capacity to accommodate this, with the presence of the additional Espanyol
fans.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is a non-smoking airport and we ask all passengers to
respect this.
When returning to the airport please board Prestwick Airport coaches, which are
clearly signed.
Coaches will park at a designated UEFA Coach Park where facilities will be
available.
Coaches will then transfer from the coach park to the main terminal, where a
queueing system will be in operation.
Please have individual boarding cards and travel identification available at
all times.
Passengers will be boarded onto any aircraft returning to Barcelona - this is
in order to achieve a fast and efficient flow of passengers through the
airport.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is situated 50km from Glasgow City Centre and it
takes approximately 40 minutes to reach the city centre.
The following is a guide to security restrictions in place at all UK airports:
· Passengers are permitted to carry ONE item of hand baggage, no larger
than 56 centimetres long, 45 centimetres high and 25 centimetres deep
· In addition to coats, jackets must also be removed for security
screening
Passengers will be permitted to take liquids through security so long as the
liquids are contained in individual containers of no more than 100mls and are
contained in a sealed clear plastic bag no larger than 20 cm X 20 cm – only one
bag per passenger is permitted, and each bag should be presented for security
screening
· Liquids in containers of more than 100ml capacity can be packed in
your checked-in baggage
Passengers will be permitted to take essential medicines sufficient for the
duration of their trip; if less than 100ml, the medicine should be contained in
a clear plastic bag; if greater, the medicine should be presented for
examination.

Scotland welcomes them all!
They will get a fright in Merchants Square though - all main drinks in all the
bars will be £3 or €5. Three weeks ago I was drinking bottles of Estrella at
€1.50 doesn't seem so much fun at €5 in the Beer Cafe, Metropolitan etc!
