Glasgow airport supports 4000 Celtic fans make for Spain and the UEFA cup
tie
BAA Press Release 13/04/04
Thousands of Celtic fans are planning to fly out to Spain for Celtic's make
or break UEFA Cup Quarter Final tie against Villarreal.
Almost 4000 Celtic fans are expected to make the journey to Spain from
Glasgow Airport in the hope of watching Celtic book a place in the UEFA Cup
Semi Final.
The majority of fans will travel tomorrow on specially chartered flights.
In total, Glasgow Airport is laying on an additional 12 flights to Spain.
Up to 600 fans have already left for Spain, with a further 2200 expected to
fly out tomorrow (Wednesday). Another 1000 fans are thought to be
travelling independently from Glasgow with scheduled carriers.
Glasgow Airport Terminal Manager Paul White: "We think that potentially
4000 fans will make the journey to Spain this week, but with the tie on a
knife edge, we could well see those numbers increase. A lot of fans are
travelling independently, and some will probably be staying over in Spain
for an extended break."
