“Bearing in mind it was the Evening Times..…” and that has nothing to
do with it because it was a quote from the Managing Direct so wither it
was the Scotsman, Edinburgh Evening News or even the New York times it
would be the same.

Ooh talk about defensive.....
If you check the quote marks there no quotation mark at the end of that
particular statement ( although in fairness I think this
is a simple typo omission.)

Not defensive atoll, nothing to be defensive about just simply pointing
out that it was a quote.

It is a typo - the original press release from BAA reads as follows:-
Glasgow Airport set for fair fortnight record 15 July 2005
Glasgow Airport looks set to record its busiest day ever this weekend as
the Glasgow Fair gets underway.
An estimated 150,000 are expected to use the airport over the next four
days, with Friday forecast to be the busiest day in the airport?s 39
year history.
A staggering 41,500 passengers will pass through the airport on Friday,
marking the start of the traditional Glasgow Fair fortnight.
The previous record was on 16 July 2004 ? again the start of the Glasgow
Fair ? when 39,830 passengers used Glasgow Airport.
Among the most popular destinations this weekend are Palma, Tenerife,
Amsterdam, Florida, Toronto and, closer to home, Belfast, Birmingham and
London. Emirates? daily service to Dubai is fully booked this weekend,
and throughout July.
Stephen Baxter, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: ?July is
shaping up to be a fantastic month for Glasgow Airport, with thousands
of extra passengers taking off this summer. With new services to Europe,
the United States and North Africa this summer, more and more people are
choosing to fly direct from Scotland?s gateway airport.?
Glasgow Airport is Scotland?s long haul gateway, with flights to New
York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando, Toronto, Vancouver, Dubai, and
resorts across the Caribbean and North Africa.
Last July, Glasgow Airport became the first Scottish airport to handle
more than one million passengers in a single month.
Passengers travelling from Glasgow Airport overnight on Friday will be
among the first to read J K Rowling?s latest book, Harry Potter and the
Half Blood Prince. Copies of the book will go on sale from WHSmith
stores, from midnight on Friday into Saturday morning.
