2001 Central Scotland to Brussels combined total = 337,392
2002 Central Scotland to Brussels combined total = 162,309
Lots more people going via LHR in 2002, presumably?

Yes and many others not going/coming at all. It all points to the difference
between the Ryanair and proper services and the need for the re-instatement
of flights from GLA-BRU. The Paris figures show a similar picture that
Ryanair haven't taken all the pax after Air France chucked the direct route
to CDG. The opportunities are still there for the taking.
Good topical and timely info Blimps.

Both EDI and GLA lost about 100,000 pax. Some turned to PIK,
others turned to other airlines as they were using BRU for
connections anyway.

Or other hubs because BRU wasn't their final destination.

Or a lot of people going by the SuperFast Ferry either with their car or as
foot passengers.

That was the year I stopped using SN to South Africa, for obvious
reasons. :-)
So quite possibly a lot of connecting people did actually go other
routes (I know I did).

Yep, sounds about right. My pals in Berlin stopped using SN from Templehoff
via BRU to get to Edinburgh after the airline disappeared (not having much
choice in the matter!) and switched to KLM via AMS. More recently they have
toyed with EZY to NCL and the train to Waverley. I never used Sabena myself,
but understood it was a useful airline providing connections to a very
useful hub.

I found them useful, but really only in a single respect. They ran a
daytime flight from Brussels to Jo'burg, which I much preferred to
overnight. The downside was the Kinshasa stopover, which has little to
recommend itself.
