Seems US have brought forward their GLA-PHL re-start date from June 6th?
First inbound GLA flight departs PHL at 20:30 on the 14th May arriving GLA
at 08:25 on the 15th as 'US563.'
Return to PHL departs GLA as 'US564' at 12:45 arriving in PHL at 15:30.

Yes good news Blimps ;-)

Another snippet of information fresh from the Gulf area is that Etihad
Airways are considering GLA-Abu Dhabi for "next year".
Although they are new to me they already serve LHR and LGW and would have
connections to Karachi, Mumbai, Bangkok, Dhaka, Manila, Lahore, Kuala
Lumpur, Delhi, Jakarta and Bahrain.

Yes, snippets from elsewhere suggest PIA have 'missed the boat?'

Where did you hear this Clive?

A Travel Agent friend of my sister in Bahrain. It could be mince and I'd
just keep it in the back of our minds for now but then again the source has
no axes to grind other than arranging UK ex-pats travel to and fro the
region and came out with it unprompted. Etihad are seen as the easyJet of
the Gulf, apparently, and they are obviously after the leisure and VFR
traffic rather than high end business pax. A bit like Gulf Traveller who are
starting at BHX.
Didn't I hear that Etihad were looking at MAN a while back too?

Another thing I noticed - the Travel City Direct 'Jumbo' 747 Sanford Orlando
flights are now extended through to October 2005 after starting with the
school holidays on 26 June. This year and last they only went June/July.

I saw that. Just one person who thinks EK will have captured the entire
Pakistan market. I am pretty sure there is room for PK for the direct
Scottish/Pakistani market alone. Those who still travel PIA via MAN and LHR
for a start. Emirates have a lot more on offer besides Pakistan.

There is still the question of Qatar Airways too but I'll settle for 2 out

of 3 of the Gulf airlines mentioned for the time being ;-)

I didn't think Etihad were bargain basement Clive.

I think they have a fleet of 330's and have placed monster orders for
777 and a few 380 ?

I'd be delighted if we get Etihad or Qatar!!!

I received an e-mail from Etihad a few hours after I sent them one
(quickest reply so far). They didn't have much to say though.

My friend who works for lastminute.com says they are an extremely popular
airline for great fares to south-east asia and India for people in Britain
with relatives there. Very good fares apparently.

Perhaps my source meant relatively speaking? I see they do LHR-AUH for £289
which is pretty cheap though they are clearly not just after leisure pax as
their aircraft have 3 class configurations with fancy food and all.

They have 4 A330's and 1 A340 at present.
