You could try either end of the runway but you won't get a big hill in the
middle!

Next time you go to the layby (if 05) is in use there is a track road in
towards the runway lights. Go over the stile and from the river bank you'll
get a similar view. If 23 is in use 9most of the time) you really need a
car. Take the Erskine road from St James Interchange. Park up near the end
of the runway and you'll get the views down the runway through the fence.

Photo-opportunities are great and varied at GLA despite what some folk say.

That is some hill. The EMB145 climbs steep enough as it is without the
need of a launch pad!

Sneak into the old graveyard at the 23 end and jump atop the sorta low slung
pyramid tomb (the inhabitants won't mind) and lie back like whassis
name....Mike Myers and........ffs? You know who I mean, and enjoy the sight
of 767's, A330's, 747's etc fly just feet above your napper, oh the joys...
In my day it was BEA Viscounts, Tridents and 1-11's, and Icelandair 727's,
Loftleider DC8's etc, and the swirling vortices they left behind sure made
an eerie sound...

Looks like you'd also need a long telephoto lens to achieve that sort of
perspective.

The fence a year or so ago had a large hole in it (surely not?) but I think
it was patched up but I've never seen security there only over the other
side of the Cart where I'm sure if they saw you they would call the
rozzers..

You don't have to go into the graveyard. Get the same views from the field

and river bank but watch out for the bulls!

Must disagree here Clive, the view down 23 from the top of that tomb is
outstanding ;-)

OK I know what you mean. I used to enjoy the Waynes World experience on that

tombstone but I wouldn't reccommend cutting the fence to get in. Took the
kids a couple of years ago when an Air Atlanta 747 was due in from Tenerife.
They nearly messed themselves!

So how exactly do you get into the graveyard, I'm not getting it. Last
time I was at the layby, there were a big pair of BAA gates installed
saying "Keep out" etc. Is this where to try and gain access or is it
through the grassy area directly across from the layby entrance ?

It was fenced off some time ago but it's open again. It's private land but
anglers use it too. Just follow the path to the end.
