Here's another one -

"The ability of low-cost carriers, such as Ryanair, to widen airport
catchment areas is of importance when viewing the development of Edinburgh
and Glasgow airports - 80% of traffic at Prestwick comes from the Glasgow
catchment."

No, mine is an official government source, and that 80% of PIK's 2 million
would of course amount to 1,600,000 pax at GLA, which would mean GLA would
be on nearer 9,790,300 pax pa compared to the current 8,190,300..

BLIMPS

P.S. That "50% are going to Edinburgh" one you are clutching at straws with
should have read, and you know this fine well, said "50% of INBOUND RYR pax
VISIT Edinburgh" clearly bollocks.

Joe has fallen into a trap.
If somebody has just flown to/from EDI then they are in the EDI
catchment area.
If somebody has just flown to/from GLA then they are in the GLA
catchment area.

WHY? BECAUSE THEY HAVE JUST FLOWN TO/FROM THERE!
That is what the catchment area is!

Far from it I image. See my earlier report on GLA-YYZ-YVR with Air
Canada. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to see Air Canada reverting to
767-300's next year or possibly even A330's.

I think Zoom / Thomas Cook / Air Transat to Canada from Glasgow is a
classic example of competition stimulating the market rather than
resulting in your suggested 'over capacity'.

Cheers.
