I flew out to AMS on Sunday 8th October. I was also sitting in 2F and
my work mate was in 2E.
Although I checked in on line in took around 30 mins to check in at the
baggage drop There were problems with the baggage belts.
We dropped into the business lounge for about 10mins. Got chatting to a
SKY Sports News crew going out to the Ukraine for the Scotland Game.
Flight was full. As you say it's pretty cramped on the little F**ker.
Can't remember what it was but I had a sandwich which was OK. Cup of
tea and an orange juice. FA 's were pretty good.
Flight, bit late leaving but got in on time. Had to wait about 45 mins
for bags though. Surprisingly we were the only two people off our
flight that picked baggage up.
Wouldn't waste my own money paying for an upgrade on this flight. ( Or
any short inter European flight). It's Ok when the company is paying
and the Airmiles are worth getting.
Also flew CAI to GLA last September. Hellish time to fly. Check in at
CAI was OK as I was on business ticket. There wasn't any lounge though
as they had just changed to the new terminal where all the Egyptair
flights went from. We were given a voucher, can't remeber how much it
was worth. None of the outlets wanted to take it. Anyway I ordered a
drink and a sandwich, opened and started eating. Guy was pissed off
when I handed him the voucher and told him to take a hike when he asked
for money. He then found out which outlet the voucher could be used at
and swapped it for what I had finished eating!!
Wasn't too impressed with the layout of the new terminal. When you come
through from security its pretty cramped and the gates are on the same
level. You have to go up stairs for shops etc. Means there are people
continuosly crossing back and forward. We were bussed out to the KLM
MD11. I was in row 2. Was quite impressed. The only problem with all
that leg room is having to buzz the attendendent to get your magazine
as it's just out of reach!! Only kidding.
Like you I was given a wee dutch hoose full of booze. When I asked
about them I was given a second, the guy sitting next to me gave me
his. Wife was well impressed, first time in ages I've came home off a
job with a wee present!!.
Enjoyed the flight, pity it was at night and only 4.5 hours, couldn't
decide whether to sleep or stayu awake to enjoy the experience. It
ain't that often our company puts us in business class. Luckily I had
to get back for another job and there were no seats available on the BA
flight and only business on KLM.

Hi Mike
Your trip to CAI sounds very similar and yes it's at a hellish time
especially coming back.
The lounge is now available on the top floor at Cairo shared with Air
France and it's very plush although no booze!!
The Delft houses now come empty due to the security nonsense.

I flew KLM economy to AMS a fortnight ago on a Fokker 100 and thought
the service was Ok if nothing to write home about. Coming back a few
days later I was upgraded to business class and thought that it was
actually quite good.
This time a 734, full row to myself, a decent attractive breakfast
served on china with real cutlery and attentive steward just looking
after the needs of the six or so people in business class. |

Hi Allen
Came back on a 737 also and the service was much superior to the
outward trip.
