Hi Folks

Well had to visit Birmingham, so flew down with BA. Cost was £256 return
(was a late in booking) but it was certainly better than driving or paying
£135 for a train ticket (and travelling for a long time)

Departed GLA at 08.30 on the dot on Monday and arrived at 09.25. Total of
85 pax (out of 110) on trip down on a RJ100. Nice BA breakfast (as usual).
Bags came arrived quickly at the reclaim hall.

Arrived at BHX at 18.30 for my 19.30 flight and decided to get something to
eat, now this is where BHX is badly let down (and various others at BHX
including staff said this as well). The Burger King was shutting for a staff
night out (and its in T1 not T2). The Grill bar was disgusting and what was
sort of advertised as food should have been thrown in the bin. The prices
for soft drinks etc were OTT.

Not an airport that I would like to be stuck at for a long time, I will be
glad when I get my BA Silver card membership, at least I can sit in their
lounge.

The security staff were very friendly and helpful (makes a nice change).
Lots of shops to look at.

Anyway, onboard a/c at 19.15, but did not take off......hmmm...fell asleep
before we took off so only know that we were in the air at 19.45, but was
told that we were late in taking off.

Arrived at GLA 20.35 and bags, once again, quickly to the reclaim area. Its
annoying when using BA at GLA as the domestic baggage reclaim is one hell of
a walk away and then you have to double back round to go to the carpark (was
a bit tired by then and hungry).

Not a bad flight at all, this is my first time flying in/out of BHX and yet
another one to add to my list for this year as new.

regards John

Must agree about BHX - bit mince once you're through security to be honest.

I think I'm going to start up a business at an airport selling cans of juice
and bottled water at reasonable prices. WH Smith are a bloody disgrace
selling 500ml water for £1.29 when it costs about 37p in Tesco.

I was stuck there with family for 7 hours once waiting for an Airtours
charter. The self-service in T1 intl departures provided our only
choice of sustenance. I have never flown Airtours since :-(

Well I would not wish that on anyway at all. Even the cafe at Bournemouth
was better than BHX.
