Looks like Thomson are so pleased with the success of the GLA-Barbados
flights last year that they are doing another couple of flights in July
2004.
Departures are on the 11th and 26th for a 2 week stay.

Ah yes! Barbados as a holiday destination for the first time. It's only 2
flights but hopefully they will be a success and they will offer a bigger
programme next year. I still reckon they're tied in with a cruise company.
While I was on I noticed they also have direct flights from GLA to the
Dominican Republic, Mexico, USA, Turkey, The Canaries, Tunisia, Madeira,
Cyprus, Malta, Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

The way I see it is the longer haul the flight the more the catchment area
gets stretched.

Probably a little simplistic but your point is well made. More than
a hint of categorisation if taken too literally.

I am sure Canadians and Americans arriving at GLA disperse to every corner
of Scotland. The Emirates service will attract folk from further afield than
the Glasgow area because the overall convenience of a one stop flight to
Australia and perhaps a free add-on in Dubai en route will take folk who
would otherwise automatically go via LHR. It's only natural and doesn't mean
catagorisation. It means improved choice for the consumer.

What I meant was - just because Scottish distances are short from a long
haul point of view it doesn't follow that Scotland has to have only one
long-haul airport.

Especially an inaccessible/inconvenient long-winded one at GLA....

An airport on Scotland's perimeter fence instead of EDI at Scotland's main
gate.....
