Here are some photo's from today for anyone interested in the Scottish
aviation scene:

The based Zoom 767 had arrived from Ottawa and is seen here leaving again
for Toronto

US Airways - the new boys on the block at GLA
http://clivebraham.tripod.com/n652uslineup1000.jpg

American Airlines make a welcome return for the summer
http://clivebraham.tripod.com/n351aalineup1000.jpg

The International Pier, once famously branded a "white elephant" is full
every morning in the summer. Here are 4 767's in a row. The east side of the
pier had 2 more widebodies on stand, a Thomas Cook A330 and the Zoom 767.
Luckily all the FlyGlobespan aircraft are off on duty early each morning.

I can confirm that Clive. When I arrived home from Corfu on the 10th I have
never seen GLA look so busy.

It is indeed good news that it is so busy, however problems are
becoming apparent allready when the swing is just starting. I have
seen a few occasions now when the International pier was filled and no
stands available for landing aircraft which resulted in holding for 20
minutes or more.
I wonder how much of that airlines are prepared to take, it can not
make passengers happy.
Today was also the first 747 in I have seen this year......chartering
for MYtravel. Great seeing the big ones again :-)

Those remote stands next to the Control Tower can't come quick enough.

Unfortunately not. It was on a Spanish REG and flew under MYT 1901 and
came back as the MYT 1902.

I was up in the Kilpatrick hills with the g/f yesterday.

The jumbo was an amazing sight as it came in to land on 23.

Do the CO and US remain on stand at the International pier for the whole
time they are in GLA. If they do, it would surely be better if they were
towed, after unloading, to the old International pier until they were needed
for boarding. They could then be towed back to stand. They do this at KK and
LL all the time to keep the stands free.

Look at the picture and the 747's main gear, the two outside main bogies
are hanging in different directions ? No ?

Not a bad idea actually, just wondering what all that shifting of
planes actually costs? You'd imagine it would be in BAA's interests to
work a scheme like that.
