After Adrian's nice thread in the ng, I thought, why not have one for
GLA.

So, What new routes?
new airlines?
pax per annum?
dropped routes?
airport developments?

I'll get the ball rolling then:

Hopefully this year we will see PIA start GLA-LHE with the A310
Perhaps a German service to either FRA or MUC with LH
Wizz to Warsaw
Globespan to start MAD or BUD if slots in Paris are unavailable.
At this late stage I am unsure of any new tx flights, but perhaps NWA
to DTW.
A couple of months ago DL had supposedly filed for ATL-GLA, although
nothing has happened.
Flybe to increase their flights from GLA.

2005 should see GLA pass the 9mppa barrier, hopefully around
9.2million.

The 2 new stands next to ATC should be finished early next year.
The new baggage carousel at Intl.

More citybreak type services to Germany and Eastern Europe. Also more
from flyglobespan and possibly another longhaul like PIA.

Paris CDG a must with MUC or FRA a close second, I'd also like to see ATL or
LAX before BOS, honest.

AFR, DLH & Delta would do fine.

As much as poss, despite PIK.

None.

airport developments?

The International Arrivals Hall is totally inadequate, it's time the BRAL
Hangar was bulldozed and a new extension was built to the west including
baggage facilities, I remember BAA boasted at the time of the 'new' pier
that the material was 'off the shelf,' let's do it again.

I forgot to add the proposed new route to Vilnius. Surely an
announcement will be made shortly.

The press seem to think so. Curiously its justification is to
support burgeoning Lithuanian migrant workers in Scotland rather
than taking Scots to Vilnius (and giving access to its hub!).

Still cannot believe we are talking about places such as Vilnius when
we do not have direct flights to Paris or ANYWHERE in Germany. Although
I still feel BAA are waiting till mid January to announce quite a few
new destinations/airlines for GLA/EDI/ABZ......"BAA bring Scotland
closer to the world"

It's very ironic. Whilst all new routes are welcome it does make
normal business logic rather imperfect. Perhaps it's because the
airlines which fly between Scotland and France/Germany reckon they
cater for the market either directly or indirectly already.

You are an optimist. But let's hope you are right.
