My nieces and nephews think uncle Dave being a pilot is way cool! I want to
keep that excitement going when they take their first ride and I was
thinking a little pilot wings thing would be great to give to them when we
finish.

Anyone know where I could get some of those or have a better idea?
Any comments would be most welcome.

How about 6 (leaves me a few, that way)? I also can include 6 AOPA First
Flight Certificates in addition to the AOPA Future Pilot Pins (the pins are
plastic, nothing super fancy but younger kids will likely get a kick out of
them) with the AOPA symbol on the top with "FUTURE PILOT" appearing below
the AOPA logo on the 'badge/pin'. The certificates are fairly well done and
are on a stiff 'parchment' paper for that 'official' look. ;0)

I'm putting them into a large envelope as 'we speak'. Just email me at
sales (AT) 4webpresence (DOT) com (my work email - which I also can access from home)
with the particulars of where you want it mailed to and I'll drop it in the
mail the next day.

If you ever want to do any really "nice" ones:

I work for a silversmith company. Mostly we do trophy belt buckles for
rodeos and rodeo events. I have done Kids badges for the local "Posse" here
in Placerville.

They were inexpensive little sheriffs badges. We have a "Posse" and the
"Sheriffs" that wander around on the weekends dressed in 1800's gear, having
gunfights with each other. Pretty funny watching the tourists jump! (loud
guns). Anyway, the Sheriff likes to give these little metal badges out to
the kids. (He used to be a real Sheriff)

I think it would be a snap to do wings. I would just need a design.

Anything.

Business card, graphic.

Have Wizard of Draws create a design, etc.

I need to check with our main sales rep, but I know we can do them. They
can be bronze, silver, gold, silver plated, gold plated, etched, etc. etc.
Depends on how many and what style you want them in.

Ok heres the deal.

We are a custom shop. We have a manufacturing process, but not like China
or overseas corps.

We can create some really nice little wings. We can customize them by
routing names into them, anything you want. They aren't going to cost $2.00
though, they will be around $5.00 each. keep in mind thats totally
customized though. Any style you want, any name you want. We can even
diamond drag on the back that its from you.

If anyone else want to get in on the deal, the lower the price will go. It
would be pretty cool if some of these flight schools would give new pilots
some "honorary" wings with PPL engraved on them or something. Make it a
gold or silver one.

Ideas are limitless. This will give me an opportunity to do something for
GA.

Dave. This is great! I am seriously into this idea. At $5 apiece I would
take at least 20 pieces, assuming they have a pin so as to be worn on a
shirt or something. Maybe even one of those spike things with a backing.

The link by None Such User is very helpful. It has that one badge with AC
for Air Crew. I like the idea of giving a badge to my nieces that indicates
she is my "crew." Observer is good too, but if there were more people
interested in this idea and that would bring the cost down, then I would go
with the consensus.

So if we go with the Air crew or Observer wings from here
http://www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/ranks/officers/breast-insignia/brstpin1.html
and take the advice of the poster to remove the anchor (good Idea) you can
see that it leaves a circle in the center of two wings.

I think if a guy as talented as the "wizard of Draws" could do the above and
put a horizontal propeller separating the words "AIR" and "CREW" I think
it would be a winner. Perhaps use the remaining circle idea to add the
effect of the propeller rotating.

any thoughts?

How about 6 (leaves me a few, that way)? I also can include 6 AOPA First
Flight Certificates in addition to the AOPA Future Pilot Pins (the pins
are plastic, nothing super fancy but younger kids will likely get a kick
out of them) with the AOPA symbol on the top with "FUTURE PILOT"
appearing below the AOPA logo on the 'badge/pin'. The certificates are
fairly well done and are on a stiff 'parchment' paper for that 'official'
look. ;0)

I'm putting them into a large envelope as 'we speak'. Just email me at
sales (AT) 4webpresence (DOT) com (my work email - which I also can access from
home) with the particulars of where you want it mailed to and I'll drop
it in the mail the next day.

My nieces and nephews think uncle Dave being a pilot is way cool! I
want to keep that excitement going when they take their first ride and
I was thinking a little pilot wings thing would be great to give to
them when we finish.

Anyone know where I could get some of those or have a better idea?
Any comments would be most welcome.
