This has to be one of the very best examples of KISS I have ever come
across. To be able to lift or lower 600 tonnes 35 m in less than 4
minutes using about the same power as a big domestic 'frig. is *very*
bloody impressive - I tips me lid to the feral Scots.........

Well done!

(Nobody said flying boats had to have wings.............. :-)

Much as it pains me as a Pom to admit - the Scots over the

past 150 years or so have produced some outstanding
engineers and doctors.

Overseas trained too!

I suppose if you're a bloke wearing a skirt made from somebody's chequered
tablecloth, eating sheep guts and playing a musical(?) instrument that looks
and sounds like an octopus in pyjamas you'd better be good at *something*!

I suspect that the scots just knew what to do about 'managers', so that
the engineers were left to get on with the job in hand, instead of being
expected to rewrite the laws of nature.

As Dr Johnson said - "Much may be made of a Scot, be he caught young."
