after the DPE, that is. Thanks, everyone, for your comments concerning
my checkride. Passed it Saturday; today was my first flight as a
certificated pilot. Intended to go up alone, and take the girlfriend
on the inaugural passenger flight this weekend. As I was headed to the
airport, my flight instructor's wife called and asked if she could come
along. They've been so nice to me I couldn't refuse. Her plane is out
of service waiting for a part, and she wanted to go flying.

Left the ADIZ, went to a nearby airport, did some simulated engine
failure landings, came home -- flight went very smoothly and everything
clicked perfectly. Arrived home base as the sun was setting, touched
down gently but positively on a lighted runway bathed in the coral glow
of day's end. Why can't it be that easy on the checkride? :-)

Cheers,
Wiz
