Airfare prediction website Farecast.com has launched Fare Guard, a service
that allows customers to protect the lowest airfare for their trip without
buying a ticket. (1/24/2007)

Fare Guard provides consumers peace of mind, whether they are firming up
travel plans, or shopping for a lower fare. For a limited time, Fare Guard
will be available on Farecast.com at an introductory price of $3 per ticket
(regular price, $9.95) until February 1, 2007.

“Customers have told us that a huge pain point they have when shopping for
airfare is getting burned by price increases,” said Hugh Crean, Farecast’s
president and chief executive officer. “Now, with the launch of Fare Guard,
consumers are protected when they decide to buy later and we are putting our
money where our mouth is by backing up our predictions.”

Fare Guard allows protection of today’s lowest fare and avoid getting burned
by price increases. “Whether you’re waiting for fares to drop, or firming up
travel plans, Fare Guard gives you peace of mind when you decide to buy
later. Farecast offers Fare Guard when we predict fares will stay the same
or drop,” stated the company.

On how it works, the company stated:

· Guard – Purchase a Fare Guard to protect today’s lowest fare for one week
(only $3 for until February 1, regularly $9.95).
· Track – You will receive daily email updates from Farecast for seven days
to help you track the lowest fare and decide when to buy.
· Book – Book your tickets within seven days to redeem your Fare Guard. You
can book tickets from any airline at any price.
· Redeem – Redeem the difference between your Guarded Price and the lowest
fare on the day you booked (regardless of which flights you booked).
Farecast will send you a check for the difference.
