You have too remember that the people and City of Glasgow does get a lot of
subsidies from the SE already. I would love too see other airlines coming to
the City but the CO route to EDI has been on the cards for a few years and
its been pushed along with a little cash help. I dont grudge EDI that at
all.

As for the other airlines, they are looking at a commercial business and
have decided too operate from EDI. GLA will have its extra routes sometime,
Glasgow is certainly moving on and is becoming more popular with tourists
and also is a well established convention centre.

Also we are going too get the train link to the airport. We have had new
facilities at the airport with more on the way. What we now need is some
more direct EU routes. In November we see Flyglobespan starting from GLA
which should help push up the pax and atms for the airport.

regards John

I think it backs me and a few others up actaully. The only
justification given to invest in GLA in the whole article
is the statment "Glasgow is Scotland's premier airport and
premier City". Again, subjective unsubstantiated and I would
say irrelevant comments (which could equally apply to Edinburgh).

Take a look at what Nicol Stephen said for the official line.

Anyway if my memory serves me correctly, Glasgow does quite well
when it comes to local government handouts.

I expect this is true. The awards aren't even half way through
yet.

....which is especially popular with flower arrangers. :-)

It's a shame that it only goes to Central Station. Glasgow
as a city suffers from a divided network. I think Manchester
was like that until it was redeveloped?

Demand is probably there for cheap leisure flights so flyglobespan
should be well placed.
