Dubai flights over Xmas/New Year are full or near full!!
Again like October there won't be many no-shows.
Anyone aware of the possibility of any aircraft upgrades over this period?

Yeh I've noticed lots fuuly booked flights aswell, both directions. No
sign of an aircraft upgrade though. I very much doubt there will be
one. Plenty of flights go out full everyday on their usual aircraft. I
think the 772 was a one-off and we'll probably be waiting till October
for the next EK 777 at GLA.

My better half had to turn away a family of four wanting to go to
Dubai over the New Year. Having tried numerous combinations she
could't get any availability form GLA on Emirates. They were only
interested on the direct flight.
I also know another family of four who were looking at booking up and
are as yet unaware of the availability. That makes 8 heads, that I
know, lost to Emirates and GLA.

Personally I prefer an A330 TO B777, 2,4,2 Seating has to be better
than 3,4,3. I would think it would make more sense if Emirates added
extra flights to connect with the later flights. Starting with 2 to 3
per week and increasing if there was enough demand.

Managed to get a flight out of Gla on the 10/01. Booked through EK
office in Man. the girl who took the booking said the route's
popularity was growing all the time and they were having difficulty
finding seats on a lot of the flights.

My plan was to go from EDI to GLA then to DXB but the flights were booked up
and only high cost fairs left. In the end I had to do it direct from
CPH-FRA-DXB which is a bloody pain in the ass! I would have preferred to do
the direct thing but the cost was as much as 300 quid difference.

Don Green, If your reading many we can meet up for beer with yourself, I
will be visiting Egon and co out there.

I didn't realise that Emirates 777 has a 3-4-3 configuration in
economy,it must be pretty cramped as the Air France 777 has a 3-3-3 in
economy and there's not that much room.
I agree, better with the A330 2-4-2.
Anyone know the difference in capacity between the two?

I think the A330 has a capacity of approx 287 and the 773 has approx
362. So about 75 extra seats will be available for GLA-DXB from next
October :)

Check out their web site.
http://www.emirates.com/uk/index.asp
B777-300 in 2 class 42 business 320 economy Total 362
A330-200 in 2 class 27 business 251 economy Total 278

I did Air France back form Rio in April. Think it was a B777 in 3-4-3 seating.

But then I've done BA to Cairo in B777 3-3-3
and BA to Tobago and St Lucia B777 3-4-3

Air France use mainly the 777-200 maybe that's why it is a 3-3-3
config. They only have 1 777-300 I think so I imagine it is a 3-4-3.
