Here's a reply to a question on another aviation ng -

"Would think the only SLIM chance would be the odd Emirates one, as their
sales ex GLA are through the roof. I tried to book GLA-DXB in August, for
someone, and there was only 3 days with available seats. Can't see EK
upgrading to a 777 just yet. I think best hope will be one of the "regular"
tech/sick pax divs that pop in, or, if KLM get any more they crew train at
PIK."

Seems that Zoom are also doing very well with bookings. Noticed that they

have flights that are now totally sold out and the price of the seats on
other flights is rising.

It looks like GLA is going to have a record year and here's hoping PIA
announce something soon as that surely would be the icing on the cake, well,
unless Delta announce BOS ;-)

Doha would be nice as well, and realistic if the report about Dubai is accurate.

Perhaps SQ will want a piece of the GLA-Asia action...

All in good time. I'm hoping for an easyBase by November. Wink) Or a measily
Paris flight by anyone, anytime, soon......... :-(

Clive

BTW the ScotAvNet corrospondant might be cheered to know that AA 777's are a
distinct possibility for summer 2005.

Although it's nice to see it attract heavy forward bookings....one
must add the cautionary tale that we'd need to see if these
materialise into bums on seats at the time (one is minded by the quite
high bookings on the MAN-DOH service which saw only a fraction of the
passenger numbers that the bookings suggested would happen).

The threshold for upgrading is around the 170,000 passenger mark
(above 75% load factor) with one trusting that they don't have
equipment shortage which hindered expansion at another airport.

A lot depends on whether the east coast business community will support
flights away
from their local airport at EDI... Many may well experiment ..... but I
suspect many
will return to fly EDI connecting flights..

Yes I would expect at least one full year of operation before EK look at
upgrading and the business class uptake may be more of an issue with a 777
but it certainly seems to be going very well from the early signs. You
mention 75% but I honestly expect figures nearer 100%.

Interseting to note for this thread too that the US Airways flights seem to
be getting well booked in advance also.

David any word from the East on Qatar or PIA? Both rumours have been
re-iterated recently.

That would be great Clive.

The only worry I have about that however would be that their 777's are
configured for F/J/M (I think) and I'm not sure if there would be much
demand for F.

I'd love to be wrong tho...

Also on the subject, a friend is just back from Cleveland. He routed
GLA-LHR-YYZ-CLE?.

His secretary said CO was full (in y), 3 weeks before travel.

Not everyone is as narrow minded and ignorant as you……….Any person
with a brain taveling from Scotland to lets say Dubai will use the
Emirates GLA service rather than go down to England

Heard nothing recently but the local paper has mentioned the increased
PK schedule ex-MAN. Might be a good time to start looking at the PK
website. As for Qatar, I think it would be the winter timetable at
the earliest before they look to expand.
