There is a thread running on Airliners suggesting EK are to order
another 40 A380's at the Paris air show.

I wonder if the new pier at GLA publicly stated by Mr Baxter 'to
handle bigger planes' might be designed to take one of EK's
superjumbos.

If they are going to have 85 of them in their fleet I wouldn't be
suprised at all if GLA were to see one on a regular basis in a few
years time.

In about 6 or 7 years time we might see an A380 on the lunchtime
service and a 773 in the evening :-)

Cheers

I think in order to handle A380s quite a lot of additional work will be
required, besides just creating an A380 capable stand. I doubt BAA will
spend all that money just to handle a single A380 each day...

Meaning??? One remembers the sooth sayers in the 60's,oh those jumbo jet

thingys.....you'll NEVER see one of them outside of Heathrow!!!
You seem to know as much about airline industry and travel trends, as you do
about brain surgery,Joe!!here's a wee FACT(something we know you are
unfamiliar with)GLA is getting a new pier which will be made to handle
"larger" aircraft!! Given that the current pier can handle up to 747 size,
then a "larger" aircraft may be an A380,no?
Still amazed at your continued brass neck to post to these groups after your
foul mouthed shenanigans behind one of your various masks lately

I don't think BAA have any current plans for handling A380s at GLA. As
there are
no 747s on scheduled services 30 years after they started then I doubt if
the very substantial investment for A380s would be economic.

Far more likely that the new deveolopments of piers etc will lead to more
point to point international services with A330 / A340 or similar sized
Boeings.

Hi
Your wasting your bandwidth trying to reason with him. Best thing to do is
put him in your kill file, even though he does seem to be trying to get
around that by changing his address.

Agreed Doug

I'm just answering the reply to a stupid posting by a jealous idiot,
however, there is nothing to suggest that there WON'T be A380's at GLA
(although i won't be holding my breath, that long)

They should stick to cutting holes in airport fences and leave Usenet for
those of us who are capable of having a civilised conversation.

I doubt it myself Doug but stranger things have happened.
Remember GLA had scheduled 747 ops by ACA 747's in the early 90's and also
regular flights by Iberia 747's and Nationair 747's.
The demolition of the Cityexpress/old Burnthills hangar and the realignment
of the main taxyway means there would be no taxying obstacles for any type
of a/c, also I believe there is a problem with runway/taxyway clearance at
the 23 end in the Link 'A' Link 'B' area which will be remedied when the
taxyway is realigned.
Also I believe there is scope for a runway extension at the 05 end.

B

P.S. Maybe we'll see Emirates A380 freighters ;-)

Hi John

I have him in my kilfile, but have taken a couple of his names out to see
what he has to say for himself after making a fool of himself over the
weekend.
He will be re-instated shortly.
