Thanks Gavin...I think most folk realised that Blimpie
would not be promoting an EDI route.

The figures appear to please the airline, they are resuming again
this June.

First of all, what are you replying to.?

Are you suggesting - as I think you are - that Transaero were offered
money to continue at EDI.?

I'd be surprised if that were ever on the cards. I mean what real
evidence is there to suggest a service for Russian tourists visiting
Scotland would do any better from Prestwick than BAA Edinburgh?

None whatsoever Damian, which is a good point BTW, the influencing factor
appears to be which airport offers airlines the best deal.

Given Transareo are at EDI, perhaps the deal there was competitive.?

One must also apply the same logic to other airports.?

Why are long haul routes virtually absent from Scotland's major
tourist/finance/political/
accessible/geographically convenient airport.?

Are airlines 'pushed' into an offer they can't refuse elsewhere or do
they honestly think
that airports outside the main attraction are worthy of giving EDI a 'miss'.?

It's easy to say that other airports are successful but if EDI isn't
competing, how can they be sure.?

Some folk say that it's Scotland and does it matter.? I don't see folk
down south applying the
same flawed logic. I don't see advertisements urging Englishmen and
women to fly from England.?

Food for thought.?

That's about a quarter full, or if you like three quarters empty for a
737-300.

Sure not brilliant, but the point is that Transaero are giving it
another try, which has to be good news for Scottish tourism, don't you
think?

No, the influencing factor is where the airlines reckon they'll make the
most money.

Well, if we go by your reckoning (not mine) it must have been seeing they're
only getting 34 pax per flight...

PIK?

Quote:
Why are long haul routes virtually absent from Scotland's major
tourist/finance/political/
accessible/geographically convenient airport.?

Because there is a bigger market at GLA for that type of flight. Evidence?
The COA flights?

Quote:

It may be your 'main attraction' but leave the route planning to the
experts.

Quote:
It's easy to say that other airports are successful but if EDI isn't
competing, how can they be sure.?

COA from GLA & EDI isn't 'competing?' CSA from GLA & EDI isn't 'competing?'

No, but we do see bull$hit from you urging Scotsmen and women to fly from
England rather than Scotland.
