Baggage Arriving at Edinburgh Airport at 2am on a flight with many
children, we were greeted with an announcement that our baggage
would take some time to unload. In fact it took about an hour.
BAA should not even think about another runway until it sorts out
its staffing problems at the present airport. I have never had to
wait so long in any airport for luggage, other passengers agreed
Edinburgh is the worst airport for having to wait at baggage
reclaim.

Perhaps the nearer alternative airport would have had less problems?

The fault of those contracted to handle the bags rather than the airport,
presumably?

Now there's a novel idea. Your flight is landing at Edinburgh but we're
going to send your bags to Glasgow because it's quicker! ;-)
I'm sure BAA compiles customer satisfaction stats and baggage reclaim is one
of the areas they ask about. Not sure what the current satisfaction rating
is, but in my experience EDI is no worse than anywhere else. Try landing at
Gatwick!!
Callum.

LOL!
I was implying he might well have been quicker flying from GLA if a
similar flight was available ;-)

AA route planner says EDI-Denny = 27.9 miles (34-minute drive), GLA-Denny =
29.2 miles (36-minute drive). EDI is the nearer airport, though clearly not
much in it, and at 2 in the morning a stroll in the park either way, one
assumes? :-)

Ah but it depends on which part of Denny he lives in :-)
On the same subject matter - Denny and Dunipace must be the largest
towns in Scotland that have a Motorway dissecting them but with no
direct access within 2 miles either direction.

Didn't we all, except that non scheduled arrivals are subject to
long delays there also.

The flight into EDI was obviously delayed, hence the shortage of
baggage staff.
The bags probably being unloaded by BAA's duty manager.

At two in the morning? One would have to be a supreme optimist!
