|
|
Edinburgh has a year-round appeal, with the Fringe Festival in the
summer and plenty of other attractions and activities during other
parts of the year.
In the winter, and especially in December, Edinburgh has an amazing
array of festivities going on. The Christmas Markets in the Princes
Street Gardens seem to get better and bigger every year, with their
original German Mulled Wine (Gluhwein) and Ginger bread stalls. The
Winter Wonderland has everything you could wish for as a child,
boasting a huge outdoor skating ice rink, as well as bouncy castle and
other fairground attractions.

Once December comes to a close Hogmanay will see you into the new year.
Hogmanay is the Scots' way of celebrating New Year - and they do it in
style. Not only do they have a fantastic street party on Princes
Street, with view to the castle fireworks, but they also have
activities such as torch lit processions, outdoor dance events and the
7 hills fireworks all around the city.

While you are there - or maybe during a less 'mad' period of the year -
you can also go and see the many (and scary) locations of ghost
sightings and other ghoulish things. Take one of the ghost tours around
town or see for yourself where people lived during the plague years.
