THE Bill for Edinburgh Airport's rail link has been submitted to
Scottish Parliamentary officials, reports the Edinburgh Evening
News.

The £500 million scheme will allow passengers and airport users to
travel on trains to and from Scottish capital city, as well as
destinations to the north, west and the south including Glasgow and
Aberdeen.

The proposals for the link include the construction of a railway
station at Edinburgh Airport's main terminal, with trains arriving
and departing via a tunnel.

The parliamentary Bill for the railway will go through a similar
process to Edinburgh's proposed tram network, and residents will
shortly be invited to submit objections, reports the Evening News.

A committee will discuss all the details of the scheme, before a
final vote and the granting of Royal Assent — if approved by MSPs —
early next year.

If they can prove that it will make money then I'm all for it, if not,
then I fear it's just another waste of money

The experts have it marked down as viable, in fact EARL is the only new
airport rail link they
think will make money Graham..

Yes, if folk opted to fly local and support their own local
economy/airport and not that of a city/airport/economy on the wrong
side of a country/river/bridge etc etc then it would be a distinct and
embarrasing white elephant, eh Graham?

Perhaps they could run a competition with the bullet train idea that was
put forward last week. Truly, the future will be a wondrous place for
the rail traveling Scot.

And for the taxpayer..why foot the bill for a bullet train when it only
knocks 10 minutes or so off the journey?

Just think, a new route carved through central Scotland at the cost of
Billions, not to mention the upheaval..

EARL will shave minutes of the existing times and therefore is the
better bargain.

I say minutes, in the case of Glasgow to EDI it will shave about 45
minutes of the existing train/bus times alone.

He goes on and on and on, a monotonous metronome. :-(

He's afraid of EARL for some reason? A local issue perhaps. >};-)
