Bit late Clive? Summer is half-way through?

Every spooter/snapper around EDI's fence has apparently got a print-out.

The list is updated and very pertinent to this group. I haven't seen it
posted here recently. It also counters your claims of no charter flights
from EDI.

Certainly not... it just seems kind of outdated.

EDI has always had charter flights, but not enough, folk still have to
pay premiums to
surface travel to the other side of the country for the bulk of them.

Like your monopoly FAQ that's 3 years old and been posted hundreds of times?

Plus it's not outdated but updated. I know of another EDI web site that is
well outdated.

You don't want EDI info posted here? Never mind - others might.

If that's the case tell the tour operators. They are the ones who arrange
the flights. No-one else.

Try going back to the 70s when BAA gave incentives at Abbotsinch? Why
are there
no charter airlines based at EDI.?

Interesting way of doing it. Good for the extra info about movements
but not like the old BAA flight guide. I assume the blanks refer to
a/c which have been/will be stopping overnight.

BAA took over EDI in 1971. They took over GLA in 1975. Can you provide info
on these incentives? Are you saying they were exclusively available at GLA
30 years ago? What did PIK have to say about it back then? There were
holiday flights from PIK then too. What about the early part of the 70's?
BAA deliberately missmanaged EDI from the onset? I'm sure we're all dying to
know. Don't forget packaged air holidays were in their infancy in those
days. They were expensive and demand in those days was a lot less than now.

But isn't there a Monarch A321 based in the summer?

Yes those in the know can see there is a Monarch A321 and 2 FlyGlobespan
737's based at EDI.

Just as well I posted this link. Jim Woodrow's web site deals in FACTS.

Joe thought there are no holiday aircraft based at EDI. Maybe he should
concentrate on EDI matters instead of spending so much time on an apparently
OT airport....

The flyglobespan plane seems to be based there. At least partly. I
know it's not charter but it makes your holiday seem longer if you have
an afternoon on day zero and a morning on the day of return to enjoy
abroad.

Who uses the Monarch flight?

Talking of the 737s, does anyone know why the first language on the cabin
signage was something like Norwegian or Icelandic? The pilots on the
outbound flight had Olaffsson and Michaelsson as their surnames. What is
the nordic connection here?

Yes 2 GSM craft are based for the summer.

I gather Airtours are the principle and various other tour operators have
bought allocations an board. Economics you see...

The current EDI based aircraft are operated by Channel Express who have some
sort of tie-in with Iceland. Hence the TF- reg.

EDI had a cross-wind runway.. Abbottsinch was pushed as more accessible.

It too was monoply-owned by BAA.

PIK was categorised for long-haul...

I flew from NCL with BY for 10 days for £30 pp (Family of 4) in
1967...Costa Brava
was unavailable from EDI

You should not be highlighting tiny breadcrumbs pushed off the BAA table.

EDI deserves loaves...not crumbs ...
