According to this all the details haven't been finalised, GLA and LTN
are also fighting for the route. Looks like it should happen though.

I can't begin to imagine what the Evening News is talking about here, or
where they got their information from. Slots not yet finalised, maybe? GLA
and LTN presumably were contenders for the route also at one point, but I
can't believe BMI would put EDI flights on sale if they still hadn't decided
whether or not the route would op from EDI. BMI went for BRU from LTN in the
end, I believe?
Hopefully it's just a minor detail still outstanding and the route will
commence as scheduled in March.
Callum.

The Evening News like their counterpart in the west are notorious for
not actually checking facts before publishing items. At times -
journalism at it's worst.

Indeed. All they're likely to have achieved here, besides confusing the hell
out of us, is to have sparked concern among people who may already have
purchased tickets for this service.

GLA was not mentioned in the article, for 'Glasgow' read Glasgow
Prestwick International.?
BAA are hardly going to compete against themselves.?

A similar situtaion achieved by the Evening Times by creating the
impression that easyJet were pulling their GLA-AMS service a month early
3 weeks ago.

Nothing, provided they can fully explain what their 'concerns' are based on.
They haven't really done that, and they've failed to track down a BMI
spokesperson to set the record straight. If the route is going ahead, as
seems likely, why cause a panic with all this nonsense?

Perhaps an email to the journalist concerned and the airline would get
some clarification Callum? To be fair to David Leask at the ET he is
actually interested in the subject he writes about and appreciates
feedback - perhaps his counterpart at the Evening News might have
similar feelings?
easyJet press office were most appreciative of the feedback re press
innaccuracies a few weeks ago and I am now in receipt of a most useful
voucher!
But I totally agree Callum all the article has done is to raise concerns
for people who had already or had intended to book this service. If the
service hadn't been secured it would actually be illegal for tickets to
be sold for it. I cannot believe for a second the airline is that naive.
I suspect the transport correspondent at the Evening News might well be.

I thought this later bit was pretty choice as well:
"Currently, the possible destinations in Germany are Cologne, which is
served by the Germanwings airline, and Hamburg - served by Hapag-Lloyd
Express.
But BMI would be the first major airline to fly to the country from the
Capital"
Presumably LH are not a major airline - I think they'll be surprised to hear
that!!! What an idiot - and he's supposedly the "Transport Reporter"!
