The point, I'm sure, is that it will go on chopping and changing, with GLA
being ahead some months and EDI ahead others .... as I have said all along
"so what?" There is no Scottish Route Crown! Let's be thankful that both
routes are doing well. Those are fantastic figures for both routes :-)

Callum.

I totally agree with you Callum. We have a fantastic range of services out

of Scotland these days and it can only get better.

Absolutely. Those extra summer flights are really starting to pay off on the
Scotland-EWR routes. Great stuff :-)

Great figures on the Globespan routes too.

July being the 'down the watter month'.... I doubt the dubious
'victory' will be repeated.

July being the Edinburgh Trades?
COA having competition to the US by AAL, US, ACA, ICE is a 'dubious'
victory?
What says you Blimpee?

What's become clearer and clearer by the month is that Edinburgh and Glasgow
are increasingly *equal* players. Both have shown that they can sustain
strong international services. Those into the "mine's bigger than yours"
mentality are having to search ever more desperately for ammunition these
days. Most would agree that both airports are doing brilliantly well, and
that's all that matters.

Just to show how 'equal' the airports are truly becoming, have a look at two
European routes' performances from July this year:

PRAGUE
Edinburgh - 12,511
Glasgow - 12,431

BARCELONA
Edinburgh - 8,517
Glasgow - 8,325

The blinkered among us may desperately seek to argue that 80 extra pax on
the EDI-PRG route confirms some sort of "superiority", while other
equally-desperate observers may like to argue that GLA wears the "crown" on
other routes, but to my mind, it just goes to show that if you give both
airports an approximately similar frequency of service to the same city,
they will both return very similar figures on those routes, confirming the
dual popularity of both EDI and GLA as departure/arrival points. Globespan's
strategy of developing routes from *both* airports is undoubtedly
vindicated.

Long may EDI and GLA continue to prosper, and let's pity those who try to
drive a wedge between Scotland's two great cities.

*exit stage left to thunderous applause* ;-)

Callum.

Well said that man again. Even today when I was looking for flights to

Dublin I checked GLA, PIK and EDI to see if anything matched what I was
looking for, like others I dont mind using any of the Central Scotland
airports.

Strongly agree, both airports are doing well but we must highlight the
stupidity of he who thinks one airport is superior to the other, I on
the other hand, merely correct such stupidity Wink
But, on a more serious note, it's not really about airports, pax
figures, percentages etc, is it Blimpee.

Indeed. Fine sentiments which we would all applaud bar one, no doubt.
