I know the talk is all about the big guys but the little ones are under huge
pressure just to exist. It would be great to see some expanded regional
services at Dundee under HIAL ownership.

P.S. Can anyone remember the British Eagle Dove schedule from Dundee to GLA
? Seems a while ago now ,,,,,,,

As a Dundonian I must say it's good to hear that something may be happening
soon at the airport. For whatever, reason, Dundee City Council seem to have
really failed to develop the asset they have by attracting new services.
Although the runway length and existing terminal facilities are limiting, I
don't see why the airport wouldn't be suitable for somebody to operate a few
prop flights a day to MAN, BHX, BHD, DUB and even AMS. I'm sure there's
enought business with the local population, as well as inbound demand to St.
Andrews and other tourist areas in NE Fife and Perthshire. The ideal
operator would probably be flybe with Dash-8s, but I suspect they might be
reluctant to start DND services as it may take pax away their other Scottish
operations. It certainly needs to be somebody relatively loco, as previous
services which have not done too well were very expensive and a more loco
approach is probably needed.
I flew to LCY in December from EDI - I wanted to use the DND service, but
even booking only a couple of weeks before it was still almost twice as
expensive as the EDI-LCY with BA! I suspect a lot of people are doing this,
so hopefully any new owner will work hard to attract new services so that
people from this area don't have to face the A8000 slog as they bypass their
local airport to bankroll a far-off one;-)

You could do your bit by trying - in the first instance - to popularise
DND by posting in alt.travel.scotland.air
Continually posting in aaug gives the impression you like it rather than
flying from/to Dundee.
Better still why not create a Dundee Airport newsgroup/forum?
