Edinburgh isn't in Scotland? Folk should not fly locally instead of undergoing
long surface tyransfers.? (Not a spelling mistake by the way)

BTW, once the GLA-DXB flight starts Emirates will no longer offer addons
from EDI-MAN/BHX/LHR. They're trying to channel all their Scottish
customers to GLA to evaluate the demand for a potential 2nd service from
EDI later.

So any `so called` EDI supporters would be well advised to start using the
GLA service if they seriously want a duplicate at EDI?

Yes indeed. Fair play to Hilary. It ties in with what I've been saying on
the subject. But will Joe respect Hilarys post?

From past experience Joe doesn't respect anybody's post if it doesn't contain
what he wants to hear even if the whole world is at odds with his viewpoint.

We were told that once the GLA-DXB direct service starts add-ons will no
longer apply from EDI. Having spoken with our rep, it's because they want
to see the Scottish market supporting the new service. They came very
close to starting out of EDI, so I think it's important to support them.
Even with the road tranfer it'll still be the quickest route to Australia
and parts of the Middle East.

This isn't what Joe wants to hear and I can assure he won't take this lying
down. He simply doesn't believe that anyone should have to suffer the
indignity of travelling 50 miles along the M8 to get a direct flight to Dubai
when they could have the so much easier option of flying to LHR and adding a
huge amount of time onto their journey. After all he is only thinking of the
jobs of his neighbours who work in the aviation industry despite the fact
they are just as likely to be working in a GLA related job as an EDI one.

For me this is excellent news and confirms exactly what Clive has said all
along - they are hoping to lure passengers away from LHR.

I would also support this tactic to the full if it was EDI which had won
Emirates.

I warn you again Joe will be totally dismissive of your post.

Yes. You'd need to buy a separate ticket to fly out of EDI, anyway.

It shows Emirates intend to make this venture and work and I'm sure it will
be hugely supported from ALL areas of Scotland and hopefully they will then
add EDI to their routes. There are sadly a very small minority who will
insist at huge cost and inconvenience to themselves that will resist any
temptation to fly from Emirates first choice in Scotland but these types are
totally unrepresentative of the people of West Lothian and the east in
general :-)

Correct, the Emirates route should be supported by ALL Scots, use it or lose
it I say, and of course EDI should gain the route in the future and anyone
who supports bankrolling the MAN/Manchester economy rather than the Scottish
one should be most thouroughly ashamed of themselves and hang their heads in
shame..
