Any recommendations on DUATS software? I've tried logging on straight,
AOPA flight planner, and cirrus (although I havn't gotten that to work
right yet).

Give a try to www.duat.com, the other FAA contractor. Compare DUAT to
DUATS, see which one works best for you.

DUATS Golden Eagle Flight Prep is free, much improved over Cirrus and is
fairly stable (don't rush the graphic overlays or it'll crash)...

http://www.flightprep.com/rootpage.php?page=infogoldeneagle

Its a 100 meg download from here:
http://www.flightprep.com/download/GoldenEagleSetup.exe

You'll need the update (17 megs) after installing, its available here:
http://www.flightprep.com/download/GEDataUpdate.exe

To have a CD sent to you, contact DUATS 1-800-345-3828...

Well the radar overlays are nice, just don't rush them. But you are
right, never had a Cirrus crash...

Actually, I wasn't complementing Cirrus, just find it humorous that we are
pleasantly surprised and even complementary when programs don't crash. I've
been in the IT world since the late 70's, and recently started a new company
that does computer forensic discovery for the legal profession. The tools we
are using are unbelievably unstable. It appears (at least in this niche)
that no one has invested in any QA - in fact I'm not sure they know what QA
is. Imagine is our planes had the same QA as software development has!

I am contemplating just such a business here in Reno, NV USA. I
currently fly and instruct in turboprops. Send me an email so that we
can chat someimes.

Respectfully,
Jasper
