|

Hi,
I tried the first time to register with the www.duat.org
They ask for my pilot/student/pilot license number.
I thought it is the number on my flight medical but the system replied
that it could not find my records .
Did I do something wrong? Do I have to add the FF in front of the number?
I have my medical now for 2 Month so I guess they should have me on the
records.
Thanks for your help.
PS: I ask because I do my first cross country tomorrow.

You may have to call them if you have a student license. At lease the
DUATS folks.

I think I scanned my medical cert and emailed it to them. They entered
my info into their records and I was able to then create an account.

It takes many weeks for your medical to show up on the database that
DUATS uses. If I recall correctly, when you tried to register, it
should have taken you to a page that says that it can take up to 9
months. If you fax or email them your medical cert, then it usually
only takes them a few days to get you into the system. On that same
page, there is a fax number as well as the email address and snail
mail address for you to do this and the instructions on how to request
access.

It will after you insert the 'FF' |

Good luck and most of all, enjoy! This is the fun part of flying. I know we
all have to learn the basics of maneuvering the airplane, but it does get
boring as hell to just do laps around the patch or out to the practice area
and back to the home airport. It's be like trying to learn to drive a car by
driving in circles in a parking lot and then graduating to circling 1 block,
then another, before returning to the parking lot or more circles.
Have fun on your cross country and don't forget to look out the windows!

It took 6 to 9 months for my medical to go through so that
DUATS could find it. I forget exactly. If you are in a hurry
you'll have to use one of the alternative methods to register.

As others have said, you can sent them an image of your student pilot
certificate/medical and they'll create an account for you. I created
a JPEG image of my medical and e-mailed it to them, and had an account
by the next day. It was very quick.
However, before I got that set up, my instructor let me use his account
to access DUATS. Check with your instructor and have him help you until
you can get your own account.
Best of luck on your cross country!

Thanks to all,
I did it via phone the first time.
Believe it or not they lost it and I had to file an other one over the
radio.
My CFI told me that this was the first time he knows that FSS lost a
flight plan.
I must say filing a flight plan via phone is really easy and just the
training video during ground school gave me the impression this would be
a challenging thing.
My first cross country was really a joy and I have now much more fun to fly.
As Jim had mentioned, like training parking and do circles with a car is
boring.(But necessary!)
Next weekend I plan to do my solo cross country.
