Pls don't post in html 'cause it looks like the above.

Your ISP runs your news server. Each ISP's is different. Check with
them.

Interesting. I a relative newbie and using Outlook Express. I understand
it lacks some features of the news editors you guys use but alphas post just
appeared normal. To snip a post I just have to use normal email cut
features.
The one small niggle I do have is that it keeps all the newsgroup threads
until I delete them - although on the positive side it means I can easily
find content offline.

Nothing wrong with OE, it's fine if you're just doing the occasional
read. It lacks some features that heavy users like.

OE by default posts html. You can change it in one of the options to
post plain (or clear) text, which is sorta the usenet preferred way.

OE reads html (which is why the post reads normally to you), but some
people think that's a security hazard since it uses IE to do it,
possibly leaving you open to attacks. There's a well-known bug where a
malicious poster can post a special sequence of characters and cause
your OE to crash when you read it(I think that's been fixed in SP2
though).

If the old posts are cluttering your view, you can set OE to show only
unread msgs, or threads that contain unread msgs. That's what I do and,
as you say, it's quite handy to have the old ones to look through too.

It would appear NickC's program lacks MIME support. So it displays
everything in ASCII because it doesn't know any different. I thought
these went obsolete years ago...

Still his point about HTML is valid, lots of people have a dislike for
HTML in emails/news.

The email in question had two parts: plain text as well as HTML. My
mail program is configured to display the text part by default so it
wasn't a problem for me, except the increase in size.

(note: what really annoys me are the sites that send an empty plain
text part and expect you to read the HTML part - my client displays
the empty part and the email looks like a blank message, easily
identified as SPAM...)

Is mine posting OK or HTML? No-one has mentioned it so I suspect it is
posting OK but best be sure.

Nah, it understands MIME fine, just won't use html (by design). Originally
was security and all that, now I'm just used to it. Old dogs...

I have had several instances in the last couple of weeks of threads not
appearing maybe a news feed that is not working. This may or may not
relate to your problem...
