THE EC'S decision [to end subsidies for long-haul destinations from
Scotland] smacks of bureaucracy gone mad and is, quite simply,
unacceptable.

The importance to our economy of expanding air routes from Scottish
airports cannot be underestimated. If we are really serious about
increasing our export trade and tourism, it is essential that we
maintain and support an infrastructure that will enable this to
happen.
