Seen the news recently? Something about forest fires
in South Georgia. That location is, oh, maybe 60 miles
away (south) from here, but the smell, and especially,
the smoke, IS here. IFR conditions. Sky obscured.
Towplanes can't get here due to the smoke.

'Good News' are the Blip Maps which supposedly (I haven't
looked myself) indicates 8,000 bases and 700 ft/min...
That's only 'good news' if you could see to launch
and land, but those are just minor details...

Going into the large stores such as Home Depot or Wal
Mart isn't an escape from the smoke. It looks as smokey
inside those behemouth buildings as it does outside.

If you think the smoke might keep down the gnats, you
would be wrong. Little buggers are annoying! But
we were warned that Cordele is below 'the Gnat Line.'

Lot of familiar contest numbers have shown up to the
race: (See the web page at: http://www.regionv-south-soaring.org/

Sign in occuring today with, hopefully, a practice
day tomorrow (Mother's Day)
