Cheaper air fares for 75,000 in Highlands introduced
TOM GORDON, Scottish Political Correspondent
Herald Online 19/05/06
Around 75,000 people in the Highlands and Islands yesterday became eligible
for a 40% discount on domestic air travel.
The Scottish Executive's air discount scheme (ADS) will mean cheaper fares
for residents in Orkney, Shetland, the Western Isles, Islay, Jura,
Caithness and north-west Sutherland.
The changes mean £24 off a £60 return between Sumburgh in Shetland and
Aberdeen; £42 off a £106 return to Edinburgh; £28 off a return to Inverness
and £45 off a return from Sumburgh to Glasgow.
